NYFW Part Two

NYFW Part Two

Anyone who’s been to New York City knows - there is always something exciting around every corner and on every block. This will be my fourth New York City travel recap/guide, and I have something new to write about every time. I have plenty of photos and locations to share, so let’s get started.

Coffee

Starting with coffee! No matter where I go, I’m always excited to try new coffee shops and cafes. I will fully admit that I love coffee shops for how cute and unique each one is. There’s nothing wrong with that!

Amy’s Breads // This was my first coffee/bagel stop on this trip Saturday morning. I got a plain bagel with cream cheese and an iced latte - would definitely recommend! I actually went back to Amy’s (the Chelsea location) the next day because the bagel was so good.

The photo above is the Brooklyn location, located on Henry St. This is a great area just to walk and check out what’s around. You’re pretty close to the water, and there are great views of Manhattan.

Coffee ‘n Clothes // This was by far the most expensive latte I bought but well worth it. It was inside Showfields (will tell you about this!!), and they sported all things designer. Such a cute little spot with a fun spin on modern coffee shop aesthetics.

Variety Coffee // I just grabbed an iced coffee on my way out for production day with VNF. This coffee shop was VERY busy, but they knew what they were doing and had everyone pumping through the line in no time. I would also recommend this coffee shop for a quick on-the-go stop. Their cold brew was great!

Bean + Bean // If you find yourself in New York with a need to get some work done, this is the place to go. They have great seating and plenty of outlets for chargers. It is located in Chelsea, right down from my second Airbnb, so it was an easy go-to from where I was staying.

Restaurants

Frankie’s Portugal // Another post-workout find - they had a sign on the corner, and I followed the smell of delicious baked goods into this very small bakery. No shame, I grabbed a pastry that the owner told me is “what I came here for”. I couldn’t argue with that… I didn’t regret it one bit, and then I was on my way back to my Airbnb to prepare for a day of fashion shows.

New York Burger Co. // To be completely honest, I was starving and needed to quickly pop in somewhere to grab lunch. Another Chelsea spot - their burgers were great, prices were reasonable and it was pretty quick. I was able to get some lunch and get where I was going.

As far as brunch goes - two recommendations! The first is Cafe Luluc, also located on Smith St. in Brooklyn. I met my friend Grant (who now lives in Brooklyn!), and he had told me they had the fluffiest pancakes you’ll ever see. Sadly, I didn’t take any photos, but peep their website to see some more photos. Note: this restaurant is cash only!

Before meeting up with Grant, I was in Manhattan and stopped in to The Dutch in SoHo to grab a mimosa. I sat at the bar and while I can’t speak to the food at The Dutch, the mimosa and the atmosphere were great for a Saturday afternoon. They have a large door/window open, so it makes for a picture perfect Saturday afternoon.

Activities/Other

The most notable thing I found and loved was Showfields. They called it, “the most interesting store in the world”. I learned about it from an Instagram ad (thanks IG!) and originally signed up for the House of Showfields interactive experience. I missed my time slot (oops), so I just went to check out the retail spaces.

It’s one of those places you will want to take a photo around every corner (and I did, of course). The brands will change periodically, and some of the brands at the time included: Quip, Book of the Month, Easy, Tiger and TAP. Every brand at Showfields is innovative and doing something just so new and exciting - you won’t believe some of these ideas!

P.S. S’well Bottle just opened at Showfields, and after listening to a podcast about the brand, I would highly recommend stopping by if you’re in New York. If not, I would absolutely recommend this podcast and the brand because they are truly doing great things for our environment.
