October Update

October Update

Photos hold a special place in my heart because of the way they are able to take you back to that very moment. Looking back at and sharing photos is one of my favorite things to do, and it is easily my favorite part of having a blog - it's the best way to keep a collection of my favorite memories. This time last year I wrote my October roundup. Going back to read it reminded me of all the great memories of my third semester of college. So now here I am in my FIFTH semester, and I'm ready to round up what this semester has entailed so far.

If you take the normal craziness of life, then add the college and athletics schedule of four girls on top of that, somewhere in there, you'll see my friends and I grabbing coffee on the weekends and getting super excited to have a Saturday morning brunch. It's rare that we find time to all be together, so when we do, it's just that much sweeter. We also found the time for an impromptu photo shoot by this pretty mural :)

This past weekend, my team and I raced at the Head of the Oklahoma to start our fall season and compete in our only home race of the season! Excited doesn't even begin to describe how we felt after our first day of racing. The Head of the Oklahoma always holds the Night Sprints where qualifying boats race an extremely short 500m piece. It's always really exciting to watch, and this year OU took the first three spots in the V8 category.

Sunday, we raced pairs, and Louisa and I were proud of our mighty little fun bun pair for how we did in our first race in a pair. Much love for bow 676. We have two more races left in this fall season, then it's onto winter training and spring season. I'm still a little shocked this is my junior season - it's going to be a great season with my team.

What's better than going to school in Oklahoma? Being just a few hours from your best friend! Katie's finally at TCU, and I got the chance to go visit her for a quick weekend in the Fort. They had an away game, but we still got to do some tailgating to celebrate both TCU and OU winning :) She showed me some cute Fort Worth spots, and I am so happy for her that she gets to spend her college years in such a cool city. Can't wait to see her so soon in Norman!!

It's not a fall semester without OU football. Gamedays are always a highlight of the weekend, and I couldn't imagine going to a school that doesn't rally around football so much. This coming weekend is the OU/TX game in Dallas, TX - I'm looking forward to seeing our Sooners beat the Longhorns again this year!

xoxo, emily
